SWERVECITY

It's been way too long since my last mix tape (and not to mention, my last post lol). Today, I got inspired to do something a bit productive and to also practice my designing abilities. What better way to do it than to make a playlist, right?

I present to you "SWERVECITY", inspired by the first track from Deftones' new album, Koi No Yokan aka my latest obsession. Enjoy!

First Spin: Karla x Eunice

Remember that time when my two closest friends DJ-ed for the first time? No? It's probably because I haven't blogged about it yet, even if it happened about a month ago (First Thursday of September) in Today at Future, Cubao Expo. Usually, I accompany my posts with photos, but this time I'm going to do it a little differently.

I Went Back to the '90s

The '90s was an incredible time for me as a child, I loved everything about it! The countless boy bands, MTV Most Wanted, watching morning cartoons and having breakfast with my family. Best times of my life. I had no idea what it was like for teenagers during the time, though - parties and the likes. But last Wednesday, my friends threw a party that was in the theme of what I was talking about. So you know what that means.

I didn't have anything to wear down to the last minute that I had to go. But I figured something out eventually, of course.

Before heading over to KYSS where the party was happening, David and I headed over to Greenbelt for his haircut where we also met up with Rutherford and Karla.

Karla and I in Greenbelt. Her pegging The Craft and me pegging Daria, as you can see. You may have noticed how we've switched hairstyles (reference). Very unintentional.

After Greenbelt, we all headed to Paul and AJ's place to prepare and have dinner.

Judd.

Bruce and Ruther.

David.

Karla and Judd made a video for the event which consisted of our '90s faves.

Nixon Marquez, stylist/DJ

Jujiin Samonte and Rcxy Bautista. Two of the birthday celebrants that night.

Troy and Den.

'90s babies.
Dave and Den.
The crowd.

It was a pretty star-studded event. Hmm.

In fact, it was so star-studded even Scary Spice was there!

Twinsies! Rendell and Judd.

David and I.

It was a really fun party! People should totes throw more parties like this. ;)

I Maed Dis

You don't need to be a chef or a culinary-arts graduate to be able to assemble something like this. I'm neither.

It's a lazy Wednesday afternoon, and not to mention it's been raining a lot these past days. You know those times when you aren't doing anything and then you start raiding the fridge to find something to eat? Then you realize that you're bored, not exactly hungry. Today was just like that. Except my mom actually asked me to cook the beef, and I was in the mood for some Mexican (one of my favorites). I specifically asked her to buy ingredients to make a good amount of Burritos but she's always preferred tacos / nachos. Sometimes parents are just always so stubborn.

Anyway! This is the dish that I came up with: Open beef tacos topped with two kinds of cheese and hash brown on the side. I have to be honest with you guys, plating isn't really my forte as you can see.

You will need:
Taco shells / Nacho chips (They're pretty much the same thing)
Cooking oil
Onions (red and white)
Garlic
Ground beef
Water
Oregano
Red bell pepper
Tomatoes
Parsley (I didn't have any so I used basil instead)
Nacho cheese and cream cheese
Salt and Pepper to taste

What you have to do:

  1. Heat about two tablespoons of oil in a pan.
  2. Once it's hot enough, put in the chopped onion and garlic. Saute until the onion is transparent. Be careful not to burn the garlic!
  3. Add in the red bell pepper that's cut into small cubes.
  4. When you start smelling the red bell pepper (don't ask me how it smells like, you'll know when you're already at it), put in the ground beef and mix it.
  5. Add about 1/4 cup of water and then mix it some more so the beef will come undone (I have no idea how to explain it), add a pinch of salt and pepper let it simmer and wait until the water dries out.
  6. While you're waiting for that, you can start chopping up the tomatoes and onions into little cubes.
  7. On a different pan, fry the brownies until golden brown. Make sure that the oil's very hot but not burnt.
  8. As for the chips, put it in a microwavable plate and top it with the nacho cheese and cream cheese. Pop it in the microwave for about forty seconds or until the cheese melts.
  9. Once your beef is dried up (but still juicy enough), it's good to go!
  10. Assemble!

I'm no food blogger, but it's really fun to talk about food every once in a while.

PS.
I pretty much eyeballed the ingredients so there aren't any specific measurements.

Christmas Wishlist 2012

Ber months are here again, and it's wishlist season! It has sort of become some sort of tradition for me, hasn't it?

In my spare time (which is, the entire day) I like to go through websites and save photos of the stuff that I like. Most of the time it gets me in this sulky mood because I can't really afford all of them. One by one. So as early as July, I started to compile a bunch of things that I like, saving them in a folder that I named WANTS - pretty self-explanatory, heh. -___-

A bunch of tops from Vans.

Denim cut offs from Topshop.

Denim hoodie, vest and military-inspired button down all from Topshop.

Black skinny jeans and denim cut-offs from Vans.

Acid washed jeans from Topshop.

Snapbacks and beanie from Vans.

Vans OTW sneakers.
Vans Creepers (Japan Exclusive)

Leopard Sk8-Hi from Vans

Creepers from TUK

Sneaker creepers from TUK

Basic flats and Moccasins from H&M.

Flatforms from NastyGal

You may have noticed that most of the stuff I picked out aren't exactly the girliest things on the face of the planet. Maybe because I practically live in my sneakers.

Dear friends, my shoe size is 7.5-8 (US Women's) and I'm also an 8 (Medium) when it comes to clothes (shirts and jeans).
