Graduation 101

At times, I find it hard to believe that a few more weeks from now, I'm finally graduating from college. This is it, I kept telling myself, but it hasn't really sunk in yet. Maybe it won't until I find the perfect dress to wear, or the best heels to walk in. I'm probably not the only one who has no freaking clue what to wear for their graduation day. There are probably a ton of you who are probably just as confused as I am. But I will do my best to help you sort it out!

Here are some tips and tricks that I picked up from a couple of friends who had to endure their graduation march:

Dress accordingly. Keep in mind that you're attending a graduation, not a party. Also that your professors are there to keep an eye on / judge / scold you. Not to mention, your love interest's parentals - in a sea of other parents. Yikes!

Wear shoes that you can walk in. Do you want to trip in the middle of the stage while receiving your diploma? The answer is a big NO. For girls, please refrain from sky-high stilettos. Do settle for sturdy heels that you're sure that you can comfortably walk in (Tip: Make sure you can still tip-toe about an inch from the ground while wearing them). For boys, always go for something classic. Maybe a pair of soft leather loafers, or dress shoes, but definitely no sneakers. This is a formal event.

Don't cake it up. Let's try and avoid a thick layer of make up. Who wants to look like a freaking clown when they come up the stage? No one. Berry-colored lips are really making a hit on the runways this Spring/Summer 2013; thick and bold eyebrows are definitely making a statement, and these will make you look younger (Believe me!). But the best make up trend that will surely last forever? Glowing skin. The one that makes you look like you're in love. Yup, definitely the best.

Keep it classy. Probably the best advice I can give you, regardless of gender.

Stud Crazy

Some time last week, I got bored and decided to be a little bit productive - so I proceeded to DIY my stuff! I'd like to think that I've always had a knack for all things Do It Yourself, although I'm not really the most fashionable person out there.

First item I decided to stud were my old (not to mention, plain and boring) brogues. Imagine how happy I was that the material used for the shoes were very soft! Easier to stud. Teehee.

For those of you who don't know where to get studs, there are a lot of varieties that can be found in online stores that range from Php100-Php150. But if you're too lazy to wait for them to get shipped, you can always use an old studded belt (like I have). It causes extra work though, since you'll have to remove the studs by hand (or plies).

Second thing I decided to customize via pyramid studs was my chevron-patterned friendship bracelet. Thought that I should give them a little extra "oomph". These three bracelets you see in the photos are DIY-ed as well. Thank you very much, YouTube!

If you like to DIY, drop me some comments! Show me what you've done and let's get inspired together :)

What About Happiness?

I'm currently focusing on my styling. And in all honesty, I don't think I'm getting a paid styling job anytime soon. But I did a shoot with besties Aki (David, actually: Designer) and Ivana (Bang: Model) for Chalk but I didn't get paid. It was more of a something to be put in my portfolio. Not bad, right? So I am requesting you, you and you to buy Chalk's June issue.

Anyway last Wednesday I met up with Jen at Shang since she's leaving for the US (for college) on the 26th. Boohoo. So we scheduled this thing right away the moment I found out. So yeah, I was wearing my mother's top that seemed like a dress to me (since it's in a big size and all that) and shorts underneath of course. I didn't mind the looks, really although it was quite bothering at the start since I did begin my day in frickin' Makati. No, not Makati-Upscale but Makati-PLAZA FAIR. Haha! Seriously now? But we went to Glorietta right after to meet up with thy awesome friends. Then to Shang. So back on track, Jen and I were in Zara and these girls were dressing up the mannequins. Seriously, they style the mannequins for Zara. I got pretty envious, to be honest. I'm right now compiling/fixing my portfolio for future jobs and stuff and I was sort of hoping to get into this window/mannequin styling job. Something a bit grand, you know? Maybe for Gucci, or Escada, or Versace, maybe Chanel and Burberry. But if not then I guess Zara's a great start! I know it's upscale at some point but I really would love to work for them. What's holding me back? School. I'm enrolling in UST this coming Thursday (24th) so this is what I'm practically busy about. Sigh. I really want that job.

I have fun with them.
They're absolutely, simply the best.

I'm saving up PhP10,000 for these dresses. And they're not just dresses. Dress #1 is Chanel while Dress#2 is Gutey. But there are other dresses that I'm incredibly attracted to. Like this MiuMiu and AnnaSui dress. And also these BCBG dresses and Maxmara! Oh and I can't forget Dior. Their prices make me sad though. I think I need to have a job first before I buy them. But they're so cheap! Compared to the original price of course. And they're not fake. My friends are selling them for really low prices (compared to the original price.. again). And I'm practically in love with them. :x Sigh, I can't wait to have money.

A new way to make you get sick

Here I am, typing away in my mom's computer. I'm currently waiting for her to get home since it's practically my job to wait for people who aren't home yet. When my dad's still out, or my mom, and even my brother! So this is basically my nature. *shrugs*

Today it seems that I'm the only one who isn't tired one bit. Because I didn't go to school since my mom forgot to give me my daily allowance. My father went to school, so has my brother and my mom has an engagement this evening; and I base this on how she was dressed up. And honestly, I was surprised she actually dressed up rather well and she didn't need my help on it. I love my mom's outfit.

And speaking of outfits! Last Monday, November 12, I was dressed like a boy! The only thing that made me look a bit feminine (read: a bit) were my MASCULINE EARRINGS! Imagine that ha. My lightning bolt earrings actually made me look like a Japanese boy; plus the hair cut and outfit. Picture this, I was wearing my camera shirt (the one from Human), black skinny jeans, black vest and my pink chucks. Come to think of it, it weren't the earrings, it were the shoes for real. Due to this.. happening (for the lack of a better term), I am now forced to dress up in a girlier scheme. Well my choices of clothing for the past weeks and even months were on the girly side although the colors I mix and match are not very feminine (see here). I play around with monotones most of the time. And if not with very similar-looking colors. Or complete opposites. I play with my outfit. But then my outfit really depends on my mood. When I'm wearing a tank top, skinny jeans and skimmers - it means I'm really lazy. Same goes with a big shirt, shorts, leggings and flats. Even with a shirt, jeans and flip flops.. obviously. I can go on and on about this! My out of the ordinary outfits really depend if I feel it. And I just have to plan on what I'm wearing.

Yesterday, due to not being able to contain myself, I bought a new pair of sandals from SO F.A.B! They're so nice! And.. THEY'RE BLUE! My first ever pair of electric blue shoes. It's T-strapped, peep-toe and patented. Another great thing about it is that it's really comfy. And that it's on sale. Tell me about a girl who doesn't love with a capital L, SALES. 50% OFF!!! Oh how it makes me so happy. Another thing that actually excites me is wearing it, and also my ninong going to China and get me boots as pasalubong! You have no idea how much I wanted - and still want - to have boots. I hope he gets the right one. Flat, suede, scrunched boots. Just the way I want it.Something a bit similar to this one. This is quite nice isn't it? Whoever owns this is a luck owner. I wish there were more boots here in the Philippines. But then.. DAMN THE CLIMATE. The cool weather is a great excuse for fashionistas out there to pile on their clothes, wear coats, scarves, BOOTS. My mom always told me to dress accordingly to the weather. But I love hoodies, I wear then even when the sun's up. But it's different now. I now followed her advice. Although sometimes it's just very tempting to do so for the sake of fashion. It's different with Aki though, because as he always says: Fashion before comfort. What can I say?

I was browsing shoes in Rustans (Shangri-La) yesterday with my mom, tita Dee and tita Charu. The look on my face while checking out those amazing BUT expensive shoes. I'm very particular about Aerosoles, T and STEVE MADDEN - come on, his shoes are lovely! I was telling tita Dee that I need heels, she asked why and I said: party shoes. She agreed, it's very mortifying to appear at a party in flats - worse than that: very casual flats. Unless they're really dolled up, if not, forget wearing them on a night-out.

New York really is my dream destination. Other than that it just has to be London. Think of it this way: it's easier to dress up, layer, pile on random stuff on your body. The catch is, no one will care. T-Mobile's Sidekick, we don't have it here in the Philippines. Everybody has a LOADED credit card that's why it's easier to pay and shop through the Internet. And I just have second thoughts about buying here online. Although, I'd have to say it's all up to you, me.. US.

All hail the Internet. I actually get to browse for nice clothes. And get nice ideas for future get-ups. I wonder what should I wear tomorrow. Hmm.
